Book review: Salby Evolution by Ian D Moore

Originally posted on Darrienia: The Forgotten Legacies Series:
They had thought it was over. The SALBY virus had been deactivated, and those infected had returned to their lives, mostly. There had been losses, causalities, and things would never be the same. They had no idea of the looming disaster, nor could they have imagined that one person, infected by the original virus,, had escaped before the UK was quarantined. But even so, on a freighter like the one he had stowed away in, given the virus ultimately killed the host, any infected should have been long dead before it reached… Continue reading Book review: Salby Evolution by Ian D Moore

The Little Things in Life

All around me, bombardment of news, events and happenings flood into my personal space. Today, much like every day away from work, I become one of the masses once again. My transformation is slight, casual clothes and less of a burden, without the need to be somewhere sometime. My day didn’t start as I’d hoped mind, no. My body had other ideas, refusing point blank to allow me to wake at the desired hour, instead seizing upon an opportunity to eek out every minute of sleep afforded, as if it knew that I wasn’t at work. That’s all very well, … Continue reading The Little Things in Life

The tattoo, the writer, and the RAK

For three long weeks I’d planned this day, right down to the last detail. Timings, routes, and possible delays I had taken into consideration as I worked out the best way to my destination. A couple of weeks before, I’d finalised the design to be tattooed up my right side, something I’ve wanted to do for awhile now. Sure, I’d seen hundreds of designs and yet felt the need to draw my own. That’s what I did one night after work. Yes, it’s rough and not to scale, but it’s been a few years since I took up a pencil … Continue reading The tattoo, the writer, and the RAK

Indies. No … not injuns’, (hoik, phut … ting!) I mean INDIES. Sorry, I feel compelled to spit whenever I say … well, you get the idea. Anyways, indie authors. Yup, you know us well, the overworked, underpaid ghosts of the writing world who turn out blistering stories and remain locked up in their cupboards eternally typing away. What if I told you there’s a new outlet in town which has the potential to be bigger than KU? What if I told you you’ll make TRIPLE your royalties because it’s the readers who pay the commission, not the hard-pressed  authors? … Continue reading Here’s an idea … Bouncepen.com

Salby Evolution – A Cover Story…

I want to introduce you to someone I consider to be a true gentleman. No only that, this man has talent you couldn’t measure. He is a reputable author, brilliant designer and commissioned artist, as well as a songwriter and musician. More than that, I consider him a true friend among friends. This man is called Nico Laeser. I’d like to tell you a story if I may. Go grab yourself a coffee, or a tea if you prefer, and join me in the making of a book cover. My story begins with a problem. How to get a decent cover … Continue reading Salby Evolution – A Cover Story…

A Writing Process – Mine

Since I began to write professionally way back in 2014, I have encountered some truly phenomenal independent authors. Along the way, I had the good sense to pin back my luggies and listen, to benefit from their wealth of experience and indeed, experiences of the indie world. I know brilliant writers who create stories in sections, those who have maps, props and even robotic voiceover machines to narrate their work to them, so that they get a feel for the feel, as it were, of their creation. I have none of these, nor, it seems have I needed them thus … Continue reading A Writing Process – Mine
